A big thunderstorm moving through Calgary is creating a sense of deja vu as some intersections and neighbourhoods are flooding again.

Unlike the massive flood that swamped much of the city on June 20, this storm is having more of a localized effect.

City crews are on scene to assess the situation and determine what actions can be taken to minimize the impact.

They are also keeping a close eye on the levels of the Bow and Elbow rivers.

People in the neighbourhood of Sunnyside, a low-lying area hit hard in the June flood, are again reporting that their basements are getting soaked.

And the downpour has soaked the grounds of the Calgary Stampede, sending thousands of fairgoers and rodeo spectators scurrying for cover.

Weather forecasts indicate that additional rain is possible throughout the evening but by midnight it's anticipated the showers will become isolated.
