Canadian officials are finalizing a decision on how much swine flu vaccine the country will need this fall.
Ontario's chief medical officer of health says the order must be placed by the end of the month. Dr. Arlene King says officials are working to reach a firm number of how many people will want or need the vaccine. Canada has a contract with GlaxoSmithKline, which owns a flu vaccine plant in Ste-Foy, Que., to produce the necessary quantities.
Dr. King says the higher risk groups for the pandemic H1N1 virus are infants, pregnant women, those with underlying health conditions and the morbidly obese.
She notes the whole order will not be ready at the same time, but says officials expect the vaccine to first become available in mid-November.
