Population growth in Canada is shifting as immigrants settle in provinces west of Ontario and the Prairies maintain higher birth rates than the rest of the country. For the first time, the population share of the Prairie provinces and British Columbia (30.7 per cent) surpassed the population share of the Atlantic provinces and Quebec (30.6 per cent).
