Police say an inmate who died at the Edmonton Remand Centre on Christmas Eve was the victim of a homicide.

Curtis Dale Hill, 34, died of blunt force trauma.

Witnesses say Hill was involved in a fight with inmates in his cell.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Media reports say Hill was convicted of aggravated assault in connection with a 2011 stabbing attack on a Calgary limousine driver.

He had also served prison time for armed robbery and other offences.
