Edmonton police are investigating an explosive device in the west end.
About 20 people have been moved from a building in the area as a precaution.
Police say explosive technicians and a bomb sniffing dog are on the scene.
Officers are also investigating a report of damage to a building.
Police say no one has been hurt and there is no risk to public safety.
