Manitoba reduces university funding

The latest province to pass the pain of tight budgets to universities is Manitoba. Postsecondary institutions in the province are now expecting only a 2.5 per cent rise in their funding for next year; they had planned for double that increase.

Sixteen-year-old can speak 23 languages

A 16-year-old New Yorker shows off the 23 languages he can speak, including French and Farsi. He started off by learning Hebrew to keep up with Israeli dance music.

Shakespeare's hard days as a teacher

Historians in the south of England are claiming that Shakespeare worked as a teacher in the area between 1589 and 1592. If so, his work day was not particularly arduous; the school had a maximum of about 12 students.
