A former OPP officer has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 15 years after being convicted of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend.

Paul Kenyon, 47, of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ont., was sentenced Tuesday in the death of Marion Deacon, whose body was found inside a torched house in the community north of Toronto.

York Regional Police say firefighters who responded to a blaze on March 7, 2010, found the body of the 46-year-old woman inside the house.

A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries to the head.

Kenyon, who provincial police say was once a member of the force, was arrested and charged on March 9, 2010, and has been in custody since then.

He was convicted by a Superior Court of Justice jury in April.
