Police say they have found nothing suspicious at a Halifax-area school after investigating a bomb threat.

Halifax Regional Police say they received a report of the threat at John W. MacLeod Elementary School at 10:46 a.m. Wednesday.

The school was evacuated and a stretch of Purcells Cove Road was closed to traffic while police investigated.

Students were moved to the nearby Fleming Tower and shortly before noon the Halifax Regional School Board announced the school was closed for the day.

Around 12:30 p.m., police tweeted that nothing suspicious had been found and the road would reopen.

The school's website says it has just over 400 students in two facilities — the John W. MacLeod building for Grades 2 to 6 and the Fleming Tower for Primary and Grade 1 students.
