Liberal Lorne Mayencourt is now officially the winner in the Vancouver-Burrard riding in the May 17 election. Associate Chief Justice Patrick Dohm declared the victory yesterday after nearly three weeks of recounting ballots. A judicial recount was ordered because the difference in votes between Mr. Mayencourt and NDP candidate Tim Stevenson was so narrow.
Mr. Stevenson waived the right to appeal the findings of the most recent recount, which gave Mr. Mayencourt an 11-vote margin. The results leave the Liberals with 46 members and the NDP with 33. CP
