Const. Jackie Perry of Napanee OPP says the scene stretches for about three kilometres although not all the stopped vehicles were involved in collisions.

While police could not give exact numbers, Perry says several people were injured, although none of the injuries are life-threatening.

Police also say a bus was sent to the scene to pick up and shelter stranded motorists.

There’s no immediate word on when the highway will reopen and police are advising drivers to avoid the area.
