Police say a 36-year-old Toronto man has been extradited from the United Kingdom in relation to a deadly home invasion that occurred more than three years ago in Mississauga, Ont.

Peel Regional police say Haldane Smithen-Davis was arrested last September in England and recently arrived in Canada to face a charge of break and enter with intent to commit robbery with a firearm.

Police allege three men, two of them armed with guns, broke into a home in Mississauga on Dec. 7, 2012 where they were confronted by the homeowner and a violent struggle ensued.

They say Ibrahim Abukar, a 22-year-old from Toronto, was shot in the melee and died in the house.

Police say Jason Hamilton, 42, of Mississauga, was charged with manslaughter in January after he turned himself in.

They say the local Somalian community played an important role in the investigation.
