Jason Horner bought the coffee for a friend at a Peterborough, Ont., Tim Hortons outlet.

Horner says his friend was spitting out little shards of glass throughout the day and got checked out at hospital.

Horner says he discovered later that employees had broken a coffee pot shortly before his arrival.

Representatives from Tim Hortons say a report has been filed on the Sunday incident and steps will be taken to review what happened.

Horner received an apology from Tim Hortons head office on Tuesday.
