New Brunswick man gets five years in prison for record child porn collection Add to ...

A New Brunswick man who gathered what the Crown has described as the largest collection of child pornography found in Canada has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Douglas Hugh Stewart had earlier pleaded guilty to possessing, accessing and distributing child pornography.

The 52-year-old Moncton man was arrested in March as part of an RCMP crackdown on Internet child pornography.

Judge Anne Dugas-Horsman said police uncovered more than 4.5 million images and videos depicting child sexual abuse during a search of Stewart's home.

She said investigators also found another 1.2 million images of children in the nude.

She said some of the children appeared to be as young as three.

Mr. Stewart must also submit a DNA sample and will be placed on the national sex offender registry.
