Calgary police say they are searching for a suspect after one person was killed and two others injured in a shooting in the city's downtown.

Officers arriving on the scene near Western Canada High School found one man already dead and two others suffering from gunshot wounds.

The pair, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital in unknown condition.

Calgary homicide detectives have taken over the case.

Staff Sgt. Gary MacAuley says the canine unit and tactical unit have searched the area and found nothing, as has the police helicopter.

Several witness have said they heard multiple gunshots.
