York Regional Police and the Ontario SPCA are hunting for two animals in a community just north of Toronto after two people were injured in attacks on Monday.
Police say the animals — believed to be coyotes — chased several Thornhill residents into their homes and at one point had to be fended off with a rake.
Officers who found the animals in a backyard on Monday were attacked but police say they fled into a wooded area after pepper spray was used to repel them.
Later in the day, officers again encountered the animals and it's believed one of them was shot in the shoulder before they fled deeper into the woods.
Two women attacked in separate incidents late Monday afternoon received minor injuries.
It's believed the animals have been living in the area for about two years, but police say this is the first known report of them being aggressive towards humans.
