Durham Regional Police say 52-year-old Jeffrey Boucher is an avid runner and it’s believed he set out for a routine run on Monday, but he has not been seen or heard from since.

Police say a search of a waterfront area of Whitby, Ont., on Monday turned up no trace of a 52-year-old high school teacher who disappeared three weeks ago.

Jeffrey Boucher of Whitby was reported missing after it's believed he headed out for a morning run on Jan. 13.

Durham regional police conducted Monday's search with an underwater robot on loan from the Toronto police marine unit.

The robot was remote-controlled by police from the shore and no vessels were on the water.

Investigators said Monday there have been no new developments in the case and the water search was a routine operation to explore all investigative options.

Police suspended a week-long ground search involving ground, air, canine units, ATVs and a trained volunteer search team, about a week after Boucher disappeared.
