Montreal— The Canadian Press

A Montreal man has died from his injuries after he jumped from a fourth-floor balcony trying to evade police.

Montreal police were responding to a domestic violence call at 11 a.m. Sunday in the city's west end.

Police say when they approached the 46-year-old man he jumped from the balcony.

He was brought to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

A woman in her 30s and a baby who were in the apartment at the time were also brought to hospital and treated for shock.

Quebec provincial police have taken over the investigation into the incident.
