Montreal The Canadian Press

A woman accused of stabbing her daughter in the head in an alleged “honour crime” has been denied bail.

Johra Kaleki had her request refused today in Quebec court.

The Afghan-born woman will be allowed to communicate with her children while behind bars.

She is accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.

Montreal police say she attempted to kill her teenage daughter in a fit of rage because she arrived home late one night.

A publication bail has been declared on the reasons cited by the judge as he denied bail.
