SIU launches probe of 2008 strip search in Ottawa Add to ...

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is now probing the case of a woman who was arrested and strip searched in Ottawa two years ago.

A judge is calling the incident an "indignity."

Stacey Bonds had her shirt and bra cut off while male officers forced her down on the ground.

The 27-year-old was left topless in a cell at an Elgin Street police station for three hours in soiled pants.

A judge stayed charges against Ms. Bonds, which included public intoxication and assault.

The SIU probe puts an end to an internal investigation by Ottawa police.
