Search and rescue crews are investigating a report of a small plane crash in New Brunswick.

Maj. Paul Doucette, a spokesman for the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax, says officials received a report of a crash of a non-commercial plane sometime after 4 p.m. in the Grand Lake area just north of Saint John.

But Maj. Doucette says officials haven't confirmed it yet, and there were no details of the type of plane that might be involved.

He says a Cormorant helicopter and a Hercules plane from 14 Wing Greenwood in Nova Scotia have been sent to the area.

Maj. Doucette says there have been no reports of an overdue aircraft.
