Smoke clears, fire evacuees returning home to northern Saskatchewan Add to ...

About 240 people evacuated from their homes in northern Saskatchewan were returning home Wednesday.

Government officials said a forest fire continued to burn near Fond du Lac, but wind was no longer blowing heavy smoke into the community.

Cooler weather and some precipitation had also helped.

Residents at risk of health and breathing problems were flown 900 kilometres south to Prince Albert last weekend.
