Stompin' Tom Connors has written a song about a new Canadian hero -- Erika Nordby, the Edmonton toddler who miraculously survived after wandering outside during a frigid February night.

Brian Edwards, Mr. Connors's agent, said the plight of the little girl, who was found clinically dead with a stopped heart, touched the popular singer.

"It really moved him, he thought it was something else, so he decided to write about it," he said.

Mr. Connors will record the ballad, which is entitled Erika Nordby (Canada's Miracle Child), this weekend, and plans to play it during a concert in Edmonton in July.

The song moved Leyla Nordby, Erika's mother, to tears. She said she plans to hang a framed copy of lyrics on her wall.

The chorus is: "Erika Nordby, Erika Nordby / Captured the world with her smile /Come hear the story of Erika Nordby / Canada's Miracle Child."
