The 10 most shocking quotes from the Shafia trial

Kingston, Ont.— The Canadian Press

Mohammad Shafia, 58, his wife Tooba Yahya, 42, and their son Hamed, 21, were found guilty Sunday of four counts each of first-degree murder. They killed Mr. Shafia daughters Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, as well as Rona Amir Mohammad, 52, Mr. Shafia's first wife in a polygamous marriage.

The Crown has characterized it as a so-called honour killing. The trial has heard much colourful, shocking and heartbreaking evidence over the past three months and on Sunday listened to a powerful statement from the judge.

Quotes from Mr. Shafia, Ms. Yahya and Rona have been translated from Dari, a dialect from Afghanistan.
