The Globe and Mail won two gold awards and one silver at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards on Monday evening in Toronto.
Among the accolades was the top award for best companion website for publications with a print brand in the newspaper and broadcast category. The Globe received gold, beating out four other finalists, including nationalpost.com and thestar.com.
“We’re proud that we reach so many Canadians on so many different platforms every day,” said Anjali Kapoor, The Globe’s managing editor, digital. “We continue to break new ground and excel in our online journalism and our storytelling.”
The awards, held at the Gladstone Hotel, are for online and digital publications. The Globe was in the division reserved for newspapers and broadcast outlets.
The Globe received another gold award for its weekly Globe Wine & Spirits e-newsletter. The Friday newsletter includes wine reviews and it previews wine and spirits writer Beppi Crosariol’s Saturday column.
The in-depth multimedia feature Inside Hamas won silver in the video/multimedia feature category.
The awards are the latest of several honours for The Globe. Last month, The Globe’s website won the Online News Association general excellence award in the medium site category. Days later, the website shared the World’s Best-Designed Web Site prize from the Society of News Design.
