Who can get the shot?
Toronto Public Health staff will be screening flu-shot lineups this week, double-checking to make sure those who are waiting belong to one of the priority groups. They will also be asking people who have a fever or are sick to wait until they feel better before getting the shot. Those in priority groups include: People under 65 with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, HIV/AIDS and cancer
Pregnant women
Children older than six months up to four years old. Children five and up are not considered part of the priority group
Health care workers
Caregivers of infants under six months old and immunocompromised people
Where can I get the shot?
Clinics will be open across Toronto from Monday to Friday this week between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lineups will be closed once the number of people waiting exceeds the number of doses available that day. Toronto Public Health will be posting notices on its website (http://www.toronto.ca/health) once lineups are closed, and advise people to check the website before heading to a clinic.
