Pseudo-science

From Saturday's Globe and Mail

We may have traded the ballpoint for a BlackBerry, but we still scrawl our names on documents to make things official – like, say, our candidacy for mayor. According to the pseudo-science of graphology, we can grok deep truths about people judging by how they cross their t’s and dot their i’s. So what could the scribbles on the forms of five mayoral front-runners possibly tell us? We put their autographs before the keen eyes of Mary Ann Matthews, a certified handwriting analyst in Mississauga who admits she’s no politico – and asked for her take.

Joe Pantalone

Enthusiastic and ambitious, he will prefer to lead the team. Joe will resist being micro-managed. Although this candidate is a good listener, he may refuse to accept everything you say. Don’t try to push Joe Pantalone around!

George Smitherman

This candidate feels his accomplishments deserve recognition. George can quickly adjust to new and unexpected situations. Some people might perceive him as being judgmental as he has the ability to process data with laser-like speed. George Smitherman may well be his own worst critic.

Sarah Thomson

What you see is what you get with this candidate. She has her own identity and wants you to know it. Sarah has no need to wear a mask. She prefers to think things through carefully and objectively. If researching a topic carefully is required, she will do it with great detail. Don’t be surprised if Sarah Thomson’s approach to a situation is different from the rest.

Rocco Rossi

His emotions are felt with great intensity. When this candidate believes in something, he really believes in it. When he dislikes something, he dislikes it fervently. Conversation comes easily to him. He can express his opinions with ease and will enjoy socializing and expressing his opinions. A fast thinker who is always in a hurry, Rocco Rossi may say something he will later regret.

Rob Ford

This candidate is a logical thinker. He asks lots of questions, wanting to know the “why” about almost everything. He will dig for facts and carefully examine them. Possessing a love of culture, he is currently showing a need to be noticed. Rob Ford is not one to take things lying down. He may have difficulty asking for help.
