Lawyer Lawrence Walters of Walters Law Group in Longwood, Fla., says the woman who made raunchy sex shows for an online audience in public places, believed to include public libraries in Windsor, Ont., was a contract model for website MyfreeCams.com.

A 21-year-old woman was charged Friday in connection with an investigation into sexual acts performed and streamed online at public libraries in Windsor, Ont.

The Windsor woman – who hasn't been identified by police – turned herself in at police headquarters on Friday morning, Sergeant Matthew D'Asti said in a news release.

D'Asti said her surrender came a day after investigators had received information regarding her identity and had attempted to contact her.

"She was placed under arrest on one count of indecent act. She was released on a promise to appear," he said.

Investigators had been seeking the woman after getting reports about raunchy sex videos circulating on online forums that showed a woman exposing herself and masturbating inside what appeared to be Windsor public libraries.

"The investigation is continuing," D'Asti said, noting that anyone with information is asked to call police.

Police said earlier this week that the woman used her own laptop computer to stream the videos and would cover herself when someone walked by.

Windsor Public Library chief executive officer Kitty Pope said earlier this week that a young woman was spotted in a branch in January taking inappropriate images and was asked to leave by staff.

There were no complaints from library patrons, she said.

A lawyer for a U.S.-based company that provides live webcam performances by female models said earlier this week that the woman was terminated as a model for violating company rules.

Lawyer Lawrence Walters of Walters Law Group in Longwood, Fla., said the woman was a contract model for website MyFreeCams.com.

Walters said in an e-mail Wednesday that the woman was fired "for violating company policies that are posted on the website."

Among things that are "absolutely forbidden" on camera by MyFreeCams.com are "actions that may be deemed obscene in your community."

Police say they are confident some of the videos were shot at Windsor library branches, while others appear to have been made at Tim Hortons coffee shops.

But investigators say they are unsure of where the coffee shops were because each one is so generic.
