A woman has been shot and killed on an aboriginal reserve south of Edmonton at a home next door to where a five-year-old boy was fatally shot earlier this summer.
RCMP Sgt. Patrick Webb said the 23-year-old woman was shot early this morning on the Samson Cree First Nation.
She later died in hospital.
Mr. Webb said she was right outside a home that's next to where Ethan Yellowbird was killed on July 11 when a bullet passed through his bedroom.
The child was the grandson of reserve Chief Marvin Yellowbird.
Mr. Webb said it's too soon to speculate whether the shootings may be linked, but he added investigators aren't ruling out the possibility.
The reserve has been battling a problem with gang-related violence.
Mr. Webb said police are interviewing witnesses in the latest shooting but there have been no arrests.
