A Yukon woman had a close encounter with a mother grizzly and will have some scars to prove it, according to a Whitehorse radio station.

Yukon conservation officer Ryan Hennings says the woman was walking to her job site near Wolf Lake in southern Yukon when she and the bear made eye contact over a bush, reports CKRW.

Hennings says the bear charged with its mouth wide open, but after swatting the woman down to the ground and slashing her arm, the threat seemed to be over and the sow gathered her cubs and left.

Because the bear appeared to be protecting her cubs, Hennings says no action will be taken against the grizzly.
