Poonam, a 15-year-old girl from the small Indian village of Jamsaut, is one of the students at Prerna, a residential school for marginalized girls. At Prerna, she receives an education bolstered by arts, music and sports, with opportunities she says are missing in government schools. Now she wants to be a teacher and show other girls that education is a priority.
