A woman who was seeking the Wildrose nomination in Calgary McCall has withdrawn from the race, saying the party is anti-immigration and doesn't want new Canadians as members.

Deepshikha Brar said she made a mistake when she left the Progressive Conservative party to join Wildrose Alliance last year and intends to return to the Tory fold.

She says she grew concerned that the Wildrose supports disbanding the Alberta Human Rights Commission and it also is not in favour of recognizing foreign credentials of new Canadians.

An official with the Wildrose says the allegations are "absurd."

Executive director Shayne Saskiw said Ms. Brar and two other nominees in the riding were disqualified because many of the memberships they've sold turned out to be invalid.

He said the party executive will likely decide next month what to do with the riding since there is only one valid candidate left.
