Only two of the five political parties on Prince Edward Island are running a full slate of candidates in October's provincial election.

Both the Liberals and Conservatives had 27 candidates registered by the deadline for nominations.

The Green party is fielding 22 candidates, while the New Democrats have 14 and the new Island party is running 12.

Arthur MacKenzie is the only independent who will appear on the ballot Oct. 3. A list of all the candidates is found here.

At dissolution, the Liberals under Premier Robert Ghiz held 24 of the 27 seats in the Island legislature, while the Conservatives had two and there was one vacancy.
