Behold the ministerial murse

When he was named Treasury Board president, Stockwell Day caused a bit of a stir by objecting to the description of his new duties as "purse tightening."

In an email to The Globe at the time, he explained that “'purse’ is gender bias. Men spend, too, so we also need ‘murse’ tightening."

When asked what he carries in his, he replied: "I can’t stand loose change in my pocket. Or my BB. My ‘murse’ is just large enough to carry a few legal documents, passport, wallet, small change purse, business cards and personalized note cards, mints, hand sanitizer, family photo and latest book I am reading.”

And today, he showed it off as he arrived at a special cabinet meeting at Meech Lake.
