Rona Ambrose, Jim Flaherty, Gail Shea, Vic Toews, Denis Lebel, Christian Paradis, John Baird and even Mike Duffy. These senior cabinet ministers and the good Senator are all featured in Stephen Harper's five-year anniversary video. But isn't there someone missing?

Peter MacKay – the man who helped create the party Mr. Harper eventually led to victory in 2006 – isn't anywhere to be seen.

The Prime Minister even goes on and on about how his government has reinvigorated the Canadian Forces, supporting the troops with new equipment and respect – "and restoring their central place in Canada's history and identity."

But there are no references to or pictures of the Defence Minister. Nor is Mr. MacKay's face shown on the screen when Mr. Harper credits his supporters with forming the first government "since the uniting of Canada's conservative movement."

The Prime Minister adds: "How far we have come. It's almost hard to remember what Canada looked like in winter 2005-2006."

But when Mr. Harper trumpets his government's achievements on getting tough on crime, who do we see on the screen? Public Safety Minister Vic Toews.

When he talks about helping out Canadian families, we see a quick shot of Government House Leader John Baird and the Prime Minister's parliamentary secretary, Pierre Poilievere, playing with cute little children.

Now, to be fair, not every minister is in the short video celebrating five years of power. Mr. Harper mentions immigration but we don't see Jason Kenney's face. Nor are Chuck Strahl, Tony Clement or Lawrence Cannon featured.

As for Mr. MacKay, perhaps the Prime Minister and his strategists were worried he would appear in the video sporting the Fly Emirates ball cap he wore in a cheeky protest over cabinet's decision to deny additional landing slots to two United Arab Emirates airlines.
