In fact he takes umbrage with any hint of a suggestion that he would feel the slightest bit of conflict watching the Canadian men's Olympic hockey team play the Russians in a sudden death quarter final.
Who to cheer for?
Even just asking the question leaves him "stupefied by the proposition." He added: "I mean that."
Mr. Ignatieff has always celebrated his Russian ancestory; he's written books about it.
The Liberal leader returned to Vancouver today for the last few days of the Winter Olympic Games. He had been in Vancouver with his wife, Zsuzsanna Zsohar, for the opening ceremony and some of the first events before going back to Ottawa.
The Liberal leader posted on Twitter today that he was attending the Canada-Russia game, the hottest ticket in town.
But there is no equivocation on his part – he proudly wore a Canadian jersey for the Game.
It's a good look.
