The latest Conservative attack ads are a no-go.

About 24 hours after being posted on the Conservative Party's website and YouTube channel, the two ads that were dubbed " Yes! Yes! Yes!" have been pulled and will not be broadcast.

The 15-second spots were widely panned and quickly criticized for stretching the barriers of truth. In them, the Tories asked whether the Liberal Party was seeking an early election that would imperil Canada's economic recovery, and whether it was planning to raise taxes on "job creators."

The ads then showed a clip from a recent speech in which Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff loudly said, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

In fact, the full sentence the Conservatives used from Mr. Ignatieff's speech went as follows: "Are we ready to serve the people who put us here? Are we ready to fight for the Canada we love? Are we ready to fight for the Canadian family? What's the answer to that? Yes! Yes! Yes!"

The Conservative Party had posted the 15-second ads on the same website where it had recently released other television ads as part of a major pre-electoral offensive.

Conservative officials, however, said that the "Yes! Yes! Yes!" messages were never meant for broadcast.

"It was a one day web posting, there was no media buy ever planned," said a senior official, who asked to remain nameless.
