Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff holds a town hall meeting with students in Sault Ste Marie, Ont. He then heads to Toronto for a rally with former prime minister Jean Chrétien in York Centre, currently held by Liberal Ken Dryden.
NDP Leader Jack Layton hits familiar territory as he attempts to win ridings in cities in the west. He starts the day at the Indian and Metis friendship centre in Winnipeg North, where he is to be introduced by NDP Premier Greg Selinger. He then heads to Edmonton, where the party holds one seat, for an evening rally.
Stephen Harper begins Day 33 in the Kitchener-Waterloo area where the Tories are fighting to keep two seats, Kitchener Centre and Kitchener Conestoga. In both cases the Liberals lost these seats last time by relatively slim margins. The Tory Leader has a campaign event starting about 10 a.m. ET in Kitchener with area candidates. It's his second visit to the twin cities this campaign.
Then Mr. Harper goes to tape an interview with CTV Network's Lloyd Robertson.
Finally, the Conservative Leader heads to the Niagara region riding of Welland for a rally at 7 p.m. ET. The Tories are trying to unseat NDP incumbent Malcolm Allen, using the fact he flip-flopped on dismantling the long-gun registry. The rally, however, is for candidates across the Niagara-Hamilton region.
Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe steps up the pace of his campaigning with events in Chambly, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Drummondville and Ste. Foy.
