Life isn't fair - the sequel Add to ...

By Lisa Raitt's admission, proper procedures weren't followed and clearly a bad mistake was made in leaving behind those briefing documents at CTV. Unfortunately, someone has paid the price for the forgotten dossier. Raitt offered her resignation to the Prime Minister. He refused it. The staffer who was with the minister when the briefing package was left behind has fallen on her sword. I feel for the person in question. She is an extremely decent individual, bright and with much potential. This will cut her to the core as she took great pride in her work. She did the honorable thing and assumed responsibility for this error. Hopefully, she will rebound and become stronger. Sometimes politics is an awful, awful business.

While the Liberals, as they tried to do in Question Period, will portray this incident as matter of competence among government officials, it appears to be more the case of irresponsible forgetfulness for which enough punishment has been doled out.
