What it takes to sell books Add to ...

If you are an aspiring author, have a look at this piece from today's Hill Times. It is book-tour publicity hype at its best. Gerry Nicholls, an outspoken and generally capable commentator on matters conservative in Canada, says all the right things to get some attention and unload a few books. I can't fault an entrepreneur for being creative but I don't mind challenging a faulty hypothesis.

Having spent the last few days in England I wish guys like Gerry could find some good old sex scandals to write about - a hallmark even today of the British Conservative party. He'd probably become a best-selling author overnight. He'd also be more likely to deliver hard news.
