If you're wondering why you didn't hear much about climate change during Question Period this week, here are three good reasons:

1. On Saturday, La Presse reported on Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe's investment portfolio. Later, thanks to an enterprising blogger, we learned that Helios, the Desjardins investment fund that holds his portfolio, is invested in Suncor, one of the largest operators in the Alberta oil-sands.

2. On Tuesday, after French President Nicholas Sarkozy was thumped in the regional elections, his government dropped the carbon tax that was at the centre of its climate change strategy.

3. Today, the New York Times reports that cap and trade is dead in the United States.
