TORONTO, Feb. 11 — Canadians would most like to have phone sex with Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt, reports a survey from Internet phone company Vonage Canada. The survey, carried out by Decima Research, shows that 29 per cent of Canadian women would most like to have an intimate phone conversation with Hollywood hottie Brad Pitt on
Valentine's Day; 25 per cent of men rate Angelina Jolie as their preferred partner for a "hot and heavy" phone call.
The Vonage Canada survey also found that when it comes to "phone sex," Canadians have had their fair share. More than one-third of Canadians (36 per cent) admitted to having intimate phone conversations with a close friend or partner — a figure that rose to 48 per cent among those 18 to 35 years old.
Despite the proliferation of email and instant messaging, the phone remains by far the preferred method of communicating with a loved one when separated by distance. The survey reported that 79 per cent of respondents prefer to communicate by phone, compared with just 9 per cent who prefer e-mail, 5 per cent who prefer instant messaging and only 4 per cent who prefer to send an old-fashioned love letter.
Vonage Canada offers digital phone services. Customers can sign up for a "virtual number" to maintain a local presence outside their primary calling area.
The survey also revealed that nearly two thirds of respondents (63 per cent) believe that high long-distance phone bills can put a strain on their relationship.
Runners-up to Angelina and Brad included Jennifer Aniston in second place, scoring 12 per cent of the male vote (13 percentage points behind Jolie), with Jennifer Garner and singer-actress Beyonce bringing up the rear at 6 per cent and 5 per cent respectively.
Among women, retired James Bond Sean Connery was the second most popular choice of partner (14 per cent), with Prime Minister Paul Martin and comedian Mike Myers tying for last place, each with a meagre 3 per cent of the vote.
