Lexmark enters paper market

Globe and Mail Update

Lexmark Canada Inc. has announced an assortment of photo papers engineered to offer a complete home photo printing system. Optimized for use with Lexmark printers — including the P4350 and X3350 — and EvercolourTM inks, consumers can generate high-quality digital photo output.

The new paper is offered in both standard Photo and Premium types and range in price from $13.99 (Cdn.) for a 20-count 4-inch x 6-inch Premium pack, to $39.99 for a 50-count 8.5-inch x 11-inch Premium pack. A total of eight new SKUs are available at major retailers across Canada.

In a separate announcement today, Lexmark introduced the Lexmark P4350 — an all-in-one with a colour LCD screen.

The printer features a 1.7-inch colour LCD screen that allows users to preview images before printing or copying, prints direct from digital cameras via PictBridge and camera cards and generates 4-inch x 6-inch borderless photos in as little as 38 seconds. It also comes with photo editing features that make it quick and easy to crop, resize and customize photos.

The Lexmark X3350 is another all-in-one device, with print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute in black and up to 15 ppm in colour, with a 48-bit colour scan depth. Like the P4350, the X3350 can copy, reduce or enlarge images from 25 per cent to 400 per cent, resize images to standard photo sizes with the touch of a button, scan documents directly to e-mail and edit images with Lexmark Fast Pics and Lexmark Imaging Studio Software. Users can print photos directly from their digital cameras using the X3350's handy PictBridge port.

The Lexmark P4350 has an estimated retail price of $149.99 (Cdn.) and the Lexmark X3350 is available for $129.99. Both models will be available in June.
