On June 6, CBC Radio 3 will introduce its podcasting service, which will offer new, half-hour radio programs for listeners' iPods, MP3 players and computers. Similar in style and content to Radio 3's regular Saturday night programming, this podcast will have only Canadian music from new and emerging artists.
CBC Radio 3 has progressive programming with independent music, live concert recordings, studio sessions, stories and sounds from across the country. Podcasting allows fans to subscribe to the new shows at www.cbc.ca/podcasting and receive automatic updates when new podcasts are available. Listeners can then enjoy the podcasts at their leisure, and as frequently as they wish, on a mobile digital music device or their computer. It is similar to recording a TV program on a VCR.
The latest move allows CBC Radio 3 to join Quirks and Quarks and Tod Maffin's Nerd as podcasts.
