Meedio LLC of Houston, Texas, has released Meedio TV, a digital video recorder application that runs on Microsoft Windows XP computers and uses a TV tuner to enable users to watch, pause, rewind, and record live television broadcasts. Meedio TV also includes a free subscription to an Electronic Program Guide that allows users to browse, search, and schedule upcoming broadcasts up to 10 days in advance. Meedio TV is available immediately for $39.99 (U.S.) on-line.
Meedio TV can be used on its own or combined with Meedio Essentials to enjoy digital photos, music, movies, news, weather, and games as part of a complete Meedio Pro bundle. Both Meedio TV and Meedio Essentials can be operated with a remote control and connected to a standard TV or HDTV for a true home theatre experience. Meedio Pro is also available at the company's website for $79.99.
In a related announcement, Meedio has also announced it is making Meedio Express media centre application available as a free download from its website. Meedio Express is based on a limited version of the Meedio Essentials platform which lets users collect, categorize, and enjoy all of their digital media files from a central media library.
Meedio Express is free for personal, non-commercial use and includes a music library, music player, picture albums, picture slideshows, scheduled music importer, program launcher, multi-user logins with PIN access, and five full-screen themes that can be navigated with a remote control. Meedio Express can be upgraded to Meedio Pro for more digital entertainment features, including unlimited custom themes, more than 200 custom plugins, DVD and video player, media file browser, music jukebox, CD player with autoplay and automatic download of CD information, weather conditions, forecasts, and maps, file browser, Internet browser, home automation interfaces, e-mail access, RSS news access, comics, and a digital video recorder (DVR).
