The CRTC's hearings into the future of new media regulation in Canada began last week with pleas for funding from cultural groups and extended discussion of how to fund Canadian content online.
"Broadcasting is broadcasting regardless the distribution platform," argued Alain Pineau, national director of the Canadian Conference of the Arts, saying there should be a "level playing field" between old and new media.
On Wednesday the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission hears submissions from the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and the National Film Board of Canada, among other groups.
On hand once again to make sense of the proceedings is the Globe and Mail's Technology Reporter Matt Hartley, Media Reporter Grant Robertson and Communities Editor Mathew Ingram.
