My family’s experimental move to over-the-air TV and a new Internet service provider (ISP) has been a big success. Like many Canadians, my online habits have changed in the past few years and I am consuming more data than ever, primarily due to video subscription services such as Netflix and MLB.com. Coupled with the country’s transition to digital signals, it became hard to justify spending as much as we were on TV.
Globe Technology recently published two pieces detailing how and why my household cancelled cable TV and changed ISPs. The response, including comments on the stories and sharing on social media, was ample evidence that the habits of a lot of other Canadians are changing, or will change soon.
