The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) has released the 2009 edition of its annual Essential Facts About the Canadian Computer and Video Game Industry booklet, which contains data obtained via exclusive NPD Group research.
Thought I’d pass on some of the more interesting informational tidbits found within.
-48 per cent of Canadian households own a video game system, such as an Xbox 360, Wii, or PlayStation.
-91 per cent of Canadian kids aged 6 to 12 years have played a game in the last month.
-The average age of the Canadian gamer is 35.8 years.
-38 per cent of adult male gamers say they play every day, compared to 27 per cent of adult female gamers.
-31 per cent of gamers say they play between one and three hours per week, 24 per cent say they play between four and six hours.
-The majority of adult gamers aged 35 and up play games on a computer, while the largest segments of Canadian gamers aged 13 to 17 and 18 to 34 play games on a living room console.
