Board with nails found at Cherry Beach dog park Add to ...

Police are investigating after a board full of nails was found buried in a popular off-leash dog run at Cherry Beach.

The board, a short 2x4 with more than a dozen nails in it, was found on Tuesday in the sand at the west end of the beach, near some bushes. The nails were facing up.

No one was injured by the board.

Officers have not identified any suspects or a possible motive for placing the board there, but there have been previous incidents in the GTA of people attempting to harm animals in off-leash areas.

Two years ago, two dogs died and several became sick after eating anti-freeze left in High Park. In 2004, pesticide-laced hotdogs left in Withrow Park killed another dog.
