Toronto police on Tuesday renewed warnings for women in the west downtown core to be mindful of their surroundings after three brazen sex attacks on the weekendJOHN LEHMANN

A 15-year-old boy charged in connection with a string of sexual assaults in Toronto's west-end has been denied bail.

The boy, who cannot be identified, is facing 16 sexual assault charges and two counts of criminal harassment after several women reported being attacked since the summer.

In the majority of the cases, the women told police they had been approached from behind by an assailant who then fled.

Police arrested the boy on Oct. 22 following an undercover operation involving young female police officers who posed as potential victims.

His next court appearance has been scheduled for December 12.
