A bridge on a major southern Ontario highway has reopened after being closed through the long weekend due to a crash.

The Burlington Skyway linking the Toronto area with the Niagara region was closed last Thursday after an accident involving a dump truck.

Toronto-bound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way were closed as workers made temporary repairs.

A Ministry of Transport spokeswoman says the cleanup included removal of vehicles and steel debris and a thorough inspection. Astrid Poei says additional repairs will be made over the next two months.

Police say the truck driver from Brampton, Ont., faces impaired driving charges and is to appear in court later this month.

Poei says if found guilty, the driver will be liable for the cost of the damage.
